My Dad’s name is Bruce Wayne. Honestly.
I’m sure he had his queries while growing up about whether or not he was Batman, just like I heard my share of ‘Yo Adrian’ every time the guy at the deli counter hollered for me to pick up my hoagie, thanks to Rocky.
The truth is, I’ll never care what his name is, because in my eyes he’ll always be a superhero.
He held me as a baby…
He taught me how to plant and grow a garden.
And let me feel like I was building the table, even if all I had was a plastic hammer.
He let me pick out the Christmas Tree and showed me how to chop it down.
But let me take credit for it.
He showed me how to pilot a boat…
He gave me the strength, confidence and tools to succeed…and was there to congratulate me on my success.
He was there to watch me get married…
And start my own family…with a daughter.
He learned from his father. I learned from my Dad. And hopefully my kids will learn something from me.
The bond between a Father and his children is something that can’t be broken.
Thanks for everything Dad. Happy Father’s Day. I love you.
