Let’s play pretend. You’re standing on the rim of a giant mug of steamy, creamy, dreamy hot chocolate. Big enough that you could jump in and drink your way out.
You know, something like this:
Or better yet… you could jump in armed with a giant chocolate dipped, peppermint studded marshmallow and use it as an edible personal flotation device.
You know, something like this:
Okay, now let’s get real. As in, a really simple, really delicious, really fun winter weather treat your kids will go cocoa-loco over.
Peppermint Cocoa Swizzle Sticks
(makes 12 marshmallows)
TIP: Look for one of these cake pop decorating stands at your local craft supply store. They are relatively inexpensive and perfect for projects like this.
12 cake pop sticks
12 large marshmallows
4 oz dark chocolate chips
3 – 4 tbsp heavy cream
¼ cup Andes Peppermint Crunch Baking Chips OR ¼ cups crushed peppermint candy canes
In a microwave safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and heavy cream and cook for 30 seconds. Stir to melt completely then set aside to cool a bit. Insert one cake pop stick into the bottom of each marshmallow and dunk halfway into the melted chocolate then twirl gently to remove excess chocolate. Sprinkle with peppermint baking chips or candy cane bits then set in cake pop stand to allow the chocolate to set.
Finley had a great time making (and eating) these. He even picked out his three favorites to give to our date night sitter (who he may have a slight crush on) as an early Christmas present.
Now, let’s pretend to be young again. You know, something like this:
Happy Holidays from OMFG. So Good!
