LAST WEEK DURING BREAKFAST:
AVA: Daddy, I need to get up and do something.
ME: Ava! PLEASE. NO. I’m so tired of the up & down while we’re eating. Your toys will be there when we’re done. You don’t need to put on your rain boots, ‘check on’ the DVDs to make sure they’re still there, pick tomatoes outside or wash your hands AGAIN. Let’s just focus on the pears and toast.
WITH MY BACK TURNED, I CAN HEAR HER GETTING DOWN FROM HER SEAT AND I TURN AROUND TO ADDRESS THE SITUATION…
ME: Ava! What did I just say?? AVA IS BOBBING HER HEAD, WAVING HER ARMS & HIPS.
AVA: Actually Daddy, I just needed to dance.
ME: Oh. Well why didn’t you just say that?
