Job Summary The Structural Steel Fabricator is responsible for fabricating structural steel and overhead crane components in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards. This role requires proficiency in reading and interpreting fabrication drawings, laying out materials, and fabricating according to detailed specifications. The ideal candidate is adaptable, capable of handling a variety of tasks, and willing to support multiple phases of the crane assembly process as needed. Key Responsibilities Fabricate structural steel and overhead crane components in accordance with AWS standards. Accurately interpret and work from fabrication drawings and specifications to layout and fabricate steel components. Operate a range of fabrication equipment—including cutting, bending, and welding tools—to produce high-quality steel structures. Ensure all work adheres to strict quality standards and aligns with project specifications. Apply protective coatings or paint to structural components upon completion of fabrication. Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in full compliance with safety protocols and regulations. Skills And Experience Proficiency in reading and interpreting fabrication drawings. Experienced in the safe and efficient operation of overhead cranes and forklifts. Proficient with fabrication tools and equipment, including saws, welders, grinders, and various hand tools. Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities to address and resolve assembly-related issues. Adaptable and eager to acquire new skills and take on expanded responsibilities as required. Capable of working independently or collaboratively, with a sharp eye for detail and quality. Work Environment Considerations Perform duties in a shop environment under varying conditions based on assignment requirements. Willingness to work overtime and occasional weekends as needed. Capable of safely lifting and handling materials weighing up to 50 lbs. Physically able to work in diverse positions, including prolonged standing, kneeling, and bending.
