Associate Attorneys perform a variety of tasks with substantial support and supervision. The successful candidate is familiar with standard legal concepts and procedures. Associates eager to learn, to develop their craft, and to experience a wide range of matters will find this position very rewarding.
Associate Attorneys generally receive nearly all (approximately 90%) of their work through Gravis Law's lead generation and marketing and/or other attorneys in the office. However, Associate Attorneys are also expected to generate a portion (10%) of their own billable work. Associate Attorneys have access to coaching for business development and networking. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Conducting legal research on bankruptcy-related issues.
- Obtaining credit reports and writing Proofs of Claim.
- Analyzing and summarizing complicated legal documents
- Taking client consults and assessing fitness for representation by Gravis
- Communicating with and advising clients when appropriate about their cases through regular communication
- Tracking product and administrative time against client matters
- Ensure case tracking in Clever Case, Case Management System.
- Writing memorandums, briefs, letters, and other documents
- Performing discovery of various electronically stored data and hard copies of information in preparation for litigation
- Gathering information from creditors, debtors, trustees, and court clerks.
- Processing, drafting, and filing bankruptcy-related documents.
- Submitting legal documents to the Bankruptcy Court in a timely manner
- Marketing your and the firm's services to prospective clients
- Will be expected to learn and independently handle cases in Bankruptcy chapters 7 and 13 with training and supervision by Sr. Attorneys and assist with more complex bankruptcies.
The Associate Attorney will be eligible for performance-based incentive programs according to company policy.
Requirements
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS*: - Excellent writing and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent legal research skills.
- Juris Doctor degree from an American Bar Association accredited law school.
- Admission (or eligibility for reciprocal admission) to the bar in the state in which you intend to practice.
- Typically, 0-3 years of experience as an attorney, prior experience in bankruptcy preferred.
- Established book of business to transition.
Salary: $65,000
* Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted.
