SUMMARY: Assist members with their consumer lending needs in an efficient, accurate and professional manner. Analyze lending requests and make credit decisions or recommendations based on lending policy. Create opportunities for expanded member relationships by determining member needs for additional Credit Union products and services through effective cross selling recommendations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
•Interview members to obtain information concerning their lending needs, earning, and financial condition.
•Analyze current financial position of members to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
•Evaluate the members need and explain the various lending programs that are available. Once you have collected the pertinent information, make recommendations to the member on which lending option would suit their specific need.
•Make decisions to approve, disapprove, or get a supervisory consult to grant a decision on the loan.
•Ensure detailed notes in the internal notes/comments section pertaining to each individual are taken and then stored.
•Willingness to work extended hours as business and staffing needs dictate.
•Meet or exceed cross selling goals for Credit Life and Disability Insurance, Visa accounts, and additional auto coverage options.
•Participate in sales development activities.
•Stay current on and in compliance with all Credit Union policies, and state and federal lending regulations.
EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
•Bachelor's degree in a business-related discipline or equivalent professional work experience.
•Two years sales experience in a financial services institution with measure success.
•Minimum of two years lending experience.
•Ability to operate loan processing system and all equipment and software needed to complete job functions.
OTHER JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
•Knowledge of consumer lending policies, procedures, products and services.
•Ability to operate loan processing system and all equipment and software needed to complete job functions.
•Competence with Financial Reports and other decision-making tools.
•Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
•Effective analytical problem solving, organizational and planning skills.
•Ability to multi-task and various projects in given time frame.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. All employees must be able to communicate face to face or through technology with or without reasonable accommodation. Employee will be in an office environment (well-lighted, heated and air-conditioned) typically stationed at a desk or table. Employee will be asked to sit and stand for various increments of time, and to lift/push up 10 lbs. Clerical office duties on various forms of technology are required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential job functions.
All positions that have lending responsibilities must comply with all requirements under the SAFE ACT, as well as the union's policies and procedures related to the SAFE ACT. This includes an obligation on the employee's part to ensure that NMLA registration pertaining to the SAFE ACT is kept current. The employee must notify the credit union within 30 days of any changes that need to be reflected on the NMLS Registry.
